Accountability Counsel advocates for independent, fair, transparent, accessible, and effective accountability offices to uphold the norms and standards to which institutions have agreed. We advocate for the creation of new accountability offices where they do not yet exist. We feed the policy lessons from our cases into our advocacy for change.
In less than a decade, our policy work has improved the policies and practices of every multilateral development bank and three U.S. federal agencies that engage with the private sector. We have also been instrumental in the establishment of two new accountability offices for projects financed through United Nations programs and treaties.
Our latest work advocates for accountability tools for impact investing.
