CSOs call on UNDP Administrator to Support Development Accountability

Last week, 21 civil society organizations wrote to United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Alexander De Croo to encourage his support of UNDP’s Social and Environmental Compliance Unit (SECU). SECU is an important governance tool for UNDP that allows project-affected communities to raise concerns about negative environmental and human rights impacts. As Mr. De Croo continues to set the tenor of his term as UNDP administrator, it is important for him to establish that accountability, including a strong SECU, is crucial to UNDP’s development mission.
