This article explores why survivor-centered, gender-sensitive reforms are essential to meaningful remedy.Independent Accountability Mechanisms (IAMs) were created to provide redress for communities harmed by internationally financed development projects. All too often, however, these mechanisms fail to recognize or respond to the gendered nature of harm.
