Accountability Counsel is working to create a new Foreign Investor Accountability Mechanism to enable communities to hold multi-national enterprises (MNEs) to their social and environmental policy commitments in cases where there are currently no avenues for redress and to provide MNEs with a credible tool for risk management in disputes.
For more information on the proposed Foreign Investor Accountability Mechanism, please see the 2008 proposal written by Accountability Counsel’s Executive Director Natalie Bridgeman Fields and American University, Washington College of Law Professor David B. Hunter.
